Director. Playwright. Actor. Teacher. Theatre Maker.
About Me
My life was changed when I saw "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" at Harlem High School. While it was not the first play that I saw, it opened my eyes to what Theatre could be. I had to be a part of it. Mr. Lewis cast me in "The Bridegroom of Blowing Rock" my senior year of High School and I never looked back.
I attended Georgia Southern University where I double-majored in Theatre and English. The practical experience I received at Georgia Southern gave me a blue-collar mentality where I developed the ability to roll up my sleeves and get the job done.
After graduating from Georgia Southern University I became a member of the Atlanta Shakespeare Acting Apprentice Company. After I finished the apprenticeship, I transitioned into my career as a professional theatre artist. As a director, actor, and playwright I have had the privilege to work with some of the finest theatre companies in the southeast including the Georgia Shakespeare Festival, Georgia Ensemble Theatre, the Academy Theatre, Aris Theatre, the Fern Theatre, Orlando Shakes, the Orlando Repertory Theatre, and the Nashville Shakespeare Festival.
The most exciting work I did while I lived in Atlanta was work on The Seedling Project. The Seedling Project was a one-year collective composed of eight Atlanta artists. The three pillars of the project were, "Theatre for Research, Theatre for Community, and Theatre for Growth." Over the course of a year we fundraised and self-produced five productions. It was incredibly rewarding work.
After leaving Atlanta, I worked as an Arts Integration Teacher at UCP of Central Florida. I used theatre and art to teach Florida standards in an inclusive classroom working with both special needs and neurotypical students and won Teacher of the Year in 2018.
I served as Education Director for Synetic Theater in Arlington, Virginia for two years, where I oversaw outreach programs, matinees, and Summer Camps programs that reached over 8,000 students. The project at Synetic I was most proud of was an Amazon sponsored Kinetic arts box- distributed for free to 10,000 Title I students during the pandemic.
I am now the Program Director for W.T. Woodson High School's Drama Department in Fairfax, VA. I love teaching classes, mentoring students, and directing multiple productions each year.
